Week 14

As the semester nears a close, Fly Bye is working diligently to finalize project plans for the end of semester, winter break, and start of next semester. This week, Fly Bye presented its progress in project development through the System Level Design Review – Peer Review (SLDR-PR) event. In this event, Fly Bye performed a 15-minute presentation discussing aspects of the project including problem statement, project significance, proposed solutions, prototype development, product design specifications, and project plans. After conclusion of the presentation, questions were taken from the audience consisting of IPPD students and faculty.

Later in the week, Fly Bye met as a team to implement feedback received from audience members at the SLDR-PR presentation. Updates were made to existing PowerPoint slides and new slides were added to further clarify project details. Additionally, Fly Bye met with their liaison Dr. Rohde to discuss prototype development and travel plans for the winter break. Fly Bye intends to visit the USDA-ARS station to perform testing on prototypes with live fruit flies. The team will present their final SLDR presentation on December 6th with Dr. Rohde present – we are excited for Dr. Rohde to visit Gainesville again!
