PID Done!

ChemBoard’s setup at PID

We’ve completed PID! All things considered, it went well since we almost had a scare that morning when Luis almost spilled water on the prototype and one of the wirings was falling off, but we fixed that before any inspections. We learned a lot about our prototype that day so we are changing some things moving forward. Considering the scare of almost losing the board, we’re deciding to move the waterproofing of the board up to priority 3 or 4 since we don’t want to lose our hard work in the Spring when we test. Our user interface will continue to be improved, and the board is going to get a printed circuit board (PCB) for more organized connections. Olive oil caused some problems during PID so we’re thinking about using another fluid for two main reasons:

  1. It’s messy and is a hassle to clean
  2. The diaphragm pump heats up incredibly fast during operation due to the viscous (thicker) fluid

The semester is closing much faster than expected so there are two main things left on our agenda for the Fall Semester. First, we must complete the system-level design report to verbalize what we are going to do in the Spring Semester, and what we have accomplished. The team is also going to order some parts for the prototype before the Winter Break to have them so we can get to prototyping as soon as we get back from Winter break in January. This week is Thanksgiving so we hope everyone has a good break! Stay tuned for more!
