Andrew Kraus

Andrew Kraus is a fourth-year Electrical Engineering student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree. Growing up, his father and late grandfather were deeply supportive of his passion for engineering and inspired him to follow in their footsteps as UF alumni.

He is proud of being a Gator and studying to become a third-generation electrical engineer. During his time in college, Andrew has worked with a couple of engineering clubs to gain valuable experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. He helped build and program a working payload prototype with the Swamp Launch Rocket Team. He then joined UF’s IPPD program to gain experience on a project that covered all aspects of the engineering design process. Outside of school, Andrew enjoys a wide variety of DIY projects, including working on cars, building electrical devices, woodworking, and other hands-on projects. He loves to learn and apply his knowledge and skills to any project he is a part of.

Hyeong Been Joo

Hyeong Been Joo, from South Korea, is a fourth-year Computer Science (CS) student. He is currently pursuing a B.S in Computer Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences. Through this IPPD, he wants to learn more about effective teamwork and grow as an engineer. To date, he has completed numerous engineering courses, including operating systems, C++, algorithms, and cryptography. In the summer of 2021, he finished his internship at Naviworks in South Korea. He learned to take leadership by helping the team members by researching materials for the project. Getting a bachelor’s and master’s degree in computer science is Hyeongbeen’s first goal. After completing his degree, he wants to research various experiences and jobs in the United States. He still has the capacity to learn more and extend beyond Korea.

He is open to new opportunities and hopes to build a strong bond with his teammates. He also wants to open new doors in this field and to create with the goal of helping the world. Ultimately, his goal is to create an environment that not only facilitates him to thrive but also helps everyone to do the same.

Luis Gallego

Luis Gallego is a senior Chemical Engineering student and worked for Milliken Chemical at SiVance in the summer of 2022. He had hands-on experience with the day-to-day operations of a chemical plant, project management, and process design and improvement. He is one of the Gator Powerlifting coaches and has a clientele that he oversees and helps meet their fitness goals. He also participated in AIChE’s process design team from fall 2021 to spring 2022 and had further experience with HYSYS and process development.

Luis became a chemical engineering student from an interest in AP Chemistry in high school and wanted to further his education in chemistry while staying in the engineering field. He recently became interested in the subject of computer science which is reflected in the course load with the data science class he is currently taking and would like to bridge the gap between chemical engineering and computer science. He would like to further his education in computer science and is currently considering a master’s degree!
