Julian Agudelo

Julian Agudelo is currently in his 4th year of study at the University of Florida majoring in Mechanical Engineering. In December 2023, he will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida. Julian is a member and leader of multiple student organizations including Society for Professional Hispanic Engineers (SHPE) and PorColombia. In addition to being an active member in these organizations, he is currently the President of PorColombia. His roles include, project management, leading meetings, communicating with Student Government, requesting funds, and oversight of organization events. Julian is also currently working as a peer mentor for the course CGS2531 in the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering at the University of Florida. His roles include hosting two hours of virtual office hours a week where students can ask questions about word and excel assignments, and grading student assignments.

During the past summer, Julian interned at Accent Solutions in Dublin, Ireland. There he developed an Online Feedback Tool for the company. This tool is aimed at providing potential customers a quote for Accent Solutions energy services. These services aim to reduce company’s work spaces’ energy consumption to stay up to date with government energy regulations. This internship provided him with valuable experience in communication, UX/UI design, and energy industry experience. In the short term, he looks forward to taking the FE exam and working in the mechanical design and manufacturing industry. He also intends to pursue a master’s degree in product design and potentially a Professional Engineering (PE) license.

Kendall Price

Kendall Price is currently in her 5th year of study at the University of Florida. She is studying Industrial and Systems Engineering with a focus in Human Factor and Ergonomics and will graduate in May 2023 from Herbert Wertheim’s College of Engineering. Kendall is an active member of Phi Sigma Rho and has held many roles in the organization. She has been Vice President of Social Affairs, Health and Wellness Coordinator, and was voted VP of her candidate class. During these roles, she has organized events, worked with seven members of the executive board, and managed several positions while delegating tasks.

Kendall has interned as a Business Intelligence Analyst for 3 semesters with Fracture, a small business dedicated to emphasizing life’s moments by creating glass prints that last. Kendall will continue in this position until graduation and start her career with nearly two years of experience in the field. At this internship, she has had invaluable experience learning the ins and out of data analytics as well as insight into Fracture’s business structure. Kendall has found her passion and plans to continue her career in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics roles.

Nicole Virgilio

Nicole Virgilio is currently a fourth-year student at the University of Florida majoring in Chemical Engineering and will receive her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2023. Nicole is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and of the Florida Alpha Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society. In AIChE, she has been a leader for one of the process design teams that used Aspen HYSYS to solve a problem that emulates a real-world chemical engineering design situation. Currently, Nicole is a peer tutor for undergraduate students taking the Unit Operations I course where she supervises teams on a weekly basis while they perform fluid flow experiments in both a pilot and mini scale system.

This past summer, she participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates with the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida. The project focused on the synthesis and characterizing of well-defined heterogeneous catalysts for use in parahydrogen induced NMR signal enhancement. Working on this project provided her with laboratory skills, practice with professional presentations, and skills on reading technical literature. Beyond graduation, Nicole plans on taking the FE exam to solidify her understanding of the chemical engineering concepts that she has studied and to start on the path of becoming a professional engineer. From there, she hopes to begin her career in industry to gain professional experience and expand her knowledge beyond a university setting.

Grace Winkler

Grace Winkler currently studies Mechanical Engineering with certifications in Engineering Leadership and Innovation, scheduled to graduate in Spring 2023. She anticipates participating in the dual degree program to obtain her master’s in mechanical engineering by Spring 2024. She is active in Engineering Ambassadors (EA) as Leadership Chair and Project Makeover (PM) as Head Art Coordinator. Most recently, she has completed an internship in specialty chemical sales and the Innovation Fellowship cohort as a part of the UF Innovation Institute.

This summer she interned as a Technical Sales Engineer with the specialty chemical company Solenis in Macon, GA. Grace will continue this position next summer in Rankin, GA near Savannah. During this time, she has learned valuable lessons about customer relationships, process flow, and chemical balance. She also participated in a school funded trip to Austin, TX where she experienced the start-up community as well as the overall business development of this growing city.
