Weekly Update!

Hey Y’all!

This week our team was able to share our current design ideas with some of the other teams and give a presentation on the work that we have completed so far! We were peer reviewed and given much needed feedback that we appreciated so much!

Huge thank you to the IPPD Director, our Faculty Coach, and the teams that gave us feedback! Using that we will be working on our presentation skills to ensure that our presentation to Sandvik next week will go smoothly!

Before I sign off, I would also like to share that we finally received our photos from our Sandvik visit so we can finally introduce our team pending permission! Stay tuned!

This is not a Drill!

I mean, it’s at least part of a drill!

Here’s another weekly update from the Compressor Cooling Consultants!

This week, we took a trip up to Alachua to actually see the product that we will be improving. First thing that blew our minds was how massive these machines were! The cooling circuit in itself was bigger than our whole team put together, and some of these drill rigs were so heavy that they would crack the concrete that they drove over. It’s insane!

Anyways, another huge positive is that it was our first time getting to meet our team in person since we are all remote. With everything going on we took a page out of Sandvik’s book and made safety our top priority.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take pictures of anything while we were there, but we will have a team picture posted soon!

See y’all next week!

This is so COOL!

Time for another weekly update!

This week, we focused on the development of our team plan and how we are going to attack this project!

Our Liaison engineer has taken the time to share all of the current data on the system that is currently in use at Sandvik.

Next week, we will be taking a trip to our sponsors office to be see the product and how it fits to the drills that it is used on.

We can’t wait to go!

Time to Spin Up

See what we did there?

Let us introduce ourselves. Hi, we are Compressor Cooling Consultants, but you can just call us CCC for short. We are a small team of four Mechanical Engineering students and one Computer Engineering student with a goal of providing the best possible solution to the project that was presented to us by our Sponsor, Sandvik.

During the first few weeks, we spent our time setting up weekly meetings with our Coach, Dr. Kurt Schulze, as well as our Liaison Engineer. We took the time to start getting to know each other. We took time learning what each team member could bring to the table as well as what our lives also involved so that we could work best with making arrangements.

As for our project, we have begun analysis on the system as a whole. We have also started the planning by identifying our stakeholders and identifying any constraints that are applicable to said stakeholders. In the coming weeks, we will be taking the time to visit our sponsors to get a better understanding of the project.

We are so excited to get to work!
