Week #27 – We Did It

CyberSign at FDR Public Showcase

We’re done! We did it! We are so happy to say we have finally completed the FDR and can say we are done with our project. We had a great time at the event, and we hope everyone that attended did too. We are very happy with the way our presentation turned out and all the feedback we received was very positive. Thank you to everyone who watched our presentation and/or attended the public showcase (even if it was mainly for the free food). We also want to thank our coach, liaisons, and everyone else that helped along the way to help us achieve this goal.

P.S Good luck to every future IPPD student reading this that is looking at past projects.

Week #26 – FDR Peer Review

Team CyberSign after completing their FDR peer review presentation

As you can see above, our peer review presentation for FDR (Final Design Review) has been done and it went extremely well. We now feel more prepared than ever to present our final prototype and results to everyone next week. We are also very excited for the public showcase, where we will finally be showing off our project to the public.

Since there is only a week left before FDR, we will be mainly focusing on finalizing our presentation and report, which means the actual project work has officially been wrapped up. We are happy with what we were able to achieve. We can’t wait for everyone to see next week, see you there!

Week #25 – FDR Poster

CyberSign FDR Poster Draft

Above you can see a draft for our poster that will be on display during the Final Design Review (FDR). Its goal is to give a quick overview on the project, without overwhelming the person viewing it or giving away too many technical details. For the machine learning model section, you can only see a black box for now, but we are working on an animation to help visualize how the model works and how we are using it. We hope you guys like it, and we will be making changes and further improvements after we implement some of the feedback we have already received, but more feedback is always welcome!

Moving forward, we are officially in the final stretch of this project. We are finalizing all of our results and are working hard on our report and presentation for FDR. Next week we have a peer review for our FDR presentation, expect a post on that soon.

Week #24 – Prototype Inspection Day 2

CyberSign presenting their prototype

As you can see above, we finally presented our prototype! We all thought it went really well. Thank you to everyone who passed by our table to provide us with some much needed feedback on how to wrap up this project in the next couple of weeks. As we progress, just have to focus on improving the results of our model output as much as possible to ensure we present the best final product possible.

Going forward, we must also focus on our Final Design Review. We are very excited to finally be able to show this product off to the public and we hope to see many of you there.

Week #23 – Preparing For Prototype Inspection Day

Testing plan slide from our PID presentation

Next week, we have our prototype inspection day, where will present a working prototype to several sets of judges and receive some much needed feedback. This feedback will be instrumental in adding our final touches to our program before our deadline in a few weeks.

Above you can see a slide from our presentation we have prepared for prototype inspection day. It shows a glimpse to our testing plans and how we have been executing them over the past few weeks. We have been working very hard to get this prototype in presentable shape, and we are very excited to be showing it off. We hope to see many of you there!

Week #22 – Prototyping

Working rule made by our prototype

With prototype inspection day right around the corner, we have begun finalizing a functional prototype to show to the judges on the day. As you can see above, this is a rule that was made by our program from just a few user inputs involving a CWE example. It is syntactically correct and is a fully functioning rule. The only thing missing is the “pattern” section, which we removed to not show too much but that is the most important section which will be produced by our model.

We are very happy with these results so far, but we will continue to train the model even further for even more accurate results. We are very excited for prototype inspection day, and we hope to receive as much feedback as possible.

Week #21 – Back From Break

Current training data we are working with

Welcome back from the break everyone! We hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and is ready to get back to work for the final stretch of this course. We are working harder than ever now as we approach the prototype inspection day and our final deadlines. We have also been incorporating the feedback we received from QRB #2 which was very helpful.

As we have mentioned for the past few posts, our current objective is training to model as best we can. In order to do this, we must have good data for the model to train on. We have realized that the best way to improve our model output results is to start with improving the training data, which is now what we are prioritizing. We will keep you updated on how our results continue to improve.

Week #20 – QRB #2

Team CyberSign presenting their QRB#2 presentation

This week, we finally presented our QRB #2 presentation! We are extremely happy with how we did and even think it might be our best presentation performance to date. The judges said we specifically did a great job explaining what our project is and explaining the scope of the project, which usually is a hard point to get across due to the complexity of our project. We also received great feedback to use for future presentations, mainly FDR (Final Design Review).

When it comes to our project itself, we are still heavily in the training phase. We have also begun very basic testing as we mentioned last week. Our plan for the next couple weeks remains to continue fine-tuning our model to improve upon the results we have been obtaining.

Week #19 – QRB #2 Prep

Testing Results slide from our QRB #2 presentation

Last week, we focused on training and trying to get a prototype ready to show some results for QRB #2. This week, we have gotten our model to begin training and have also started to output results which is really exciting. We have been working extra hard to make sure this was done by QRB #2. We have also written very basic tests to load to model and prompt it for an output, which can be seen above.

Besides getting a basic prototype ready for QRB #2, we have been preparing for the presentation itself to ensure we display the great progress we have made so far and show we are on the right path to achieve our goals by the end of this semester. Moving forward, we will continue to train our model further to improve results and continue to test until we achieve the specifications we set out to reach.

Week #18 – Training Has Begun

CyberSign team meeting to work in HiPerGator environment together (code is blurred intentionally)

At the beginning of this week, we all met to set up and familiarize ourselves with the HiPerGator environment as a team. We showed each other what we had learned in our individual research and studies. We then began training the model as our data was reformatted recently into a very basic format that could be understood by a machine learning model. This was done to streamline this training process that is by far the largest phase of our project.

We have also been preparing this model to create our next prototype. If we continue at this pace, we will have a working prototype with a fine-tuned model by QRB #2 (February 27th). We have been working the hardest we have ever worked to ensure this prototype is ready and we do not fall behind on our plans for this semester.
