This week, parts for our backup module have finally arrived! The backup module is a crucial step that are team has identified as necessary to further implement real-life testing and integration with our sister team, the Awearables. The system architecture for this module was defined previously, and today was the day that parts arrived for inspection. This module is intended to be a fully fledged, operational unit with the main differences from our main development being that there isn’t a custom PCB implementation. So, it will likely be bulkier and with more components to integrate together. The heart of the backup module is the AWR2243-2X-CAS-EVM, shown below.

This is a high performance radar that will communicate to an external raspberry pi 4 via a automotive ethernet to standardized ethernet connection. In turn, alerts will be routed via the LoRA module. Below is the system architecture. Next steps, work on building the enclosure for the backup and placing a PCB order for our main design!
