Week #14: Post FDR

FDR Presentation

Below is an image of our final presentation for FDR. In our presentation we overviewed the problem, solution, and business case. Then we transitioned to the main component of the presentation which focused on the AI chatbot and then the other core features of our app such as shopping. Then we wrapped up with a simple and brief overview of testing. Great discussion and questions followed our presentation and were are grateful for everyone who was there to watch.

Post FDR Goodbye

Team Loyalty had a great experience at Final Design Review (FDR). It was an amazing experience for everyone in our group and we were excited to finally showcase our final product to our sponsor and others. We were able to have a private showcase with our sponsor and provide a in depth technical discussion on how Team Loyalty developed the mobile application and what technology were used for the AI chatbot Bella. The presentations in the private rooms were a great experience to have since groups discussions on our project and other teams projects occurred. It was a positive learning experience and generated many ideas on how to continue with these projects. The final public showcase was a moment where our team was able to practice our skills of explaining our project to many different demographics and catching their attention. We greatly appreciate everyone that came to FDR and especially to our coach Ashish Aggarwal and our Bealls Inc. liaisons Connie Uriarte, Tina Burleigh,Kevin Brughelli. Without our coach and liaisons, we wouldn’t have had the critical guidance and professional input for the success of our project.

We want to thank everyone for a whole year of support and are excited for what is to come. Our final FDR video and poster can be found below this post under “Week #14: FDR Poster and Video”. Go Gators!

Team Loyalty is ready and set for FDR this week, we are excited for the event!

Week #13: Final Steps

App Testing

Team Loyalty has been hard at work polishing the app and testing it through Apple’s developer tools. We are refining our app to be able to handle large loads of usage while also fixing any bugs. The app being downloadable and easy to test at our hands has been crucial. This gives Bealls Inc. a great foundation to build upon our work. The beta testing of our mobile app has been a great experience and here is the app in an iPhone!

FDR Preparation

We received great feedback from our peers during FDR Peer Review Day and we also got great criticism in our Teams channel. For the actual FDR we plan on addressing all of the points from our peers, making those presentation slide modifications, and practicing our fluidness. We want FDR to go smoothly and we want it to be a great time. The team is also finalizing our video and poster for the project!

Last Stretch

For this final week, the team is going to work hard on our presentation slides and actual speaking. We want to be smooth and have no hiccups in our presentation. Additionally, we plan on preparing a presentation with the high ups at Bealls Inc. on a video meeting. We are excited about our project and cannot wait to show you all. Thank you, Go Gators!

Week #12: Video and Poster Drafts

Video Draft

This past week team Loyalty has been hard at work on our project video and poster drafts. For the video, we filmed in person skits for the start and end. The start sets up the video to transition to showing our mobile application and its abilities. It is a good layout of the structure we want to have but we want to up the production of our video. Unfortunately, we cannot show the video as of right now because of permission from Bealls Inc. but we will let you know if that changes.

Poster Draft

For our poster draft, we used the provided template provided by IPPD and have 3 different sections on it. The left is for our side notes that include technical words, business case, etc. The middle is the main part and includes images of our AI chatbot and homepage of our app. We wanted to show our AI chatbot working and the styling of our app. Then below it is bullet points of the functionalities provided by our app. Then the right shows our testing metrics of our app so the audience can see the performance. We have the privilege of being able to receive direct feedback from our peers in our Teams channel and it has been a great tool for us to improve it. Below is our poster and we welcome more feedback! Thank you!

Next Steps

Team Loyalty’s next steps are to finish up our FDR draft for next week. While working on our FDR, we will finalize our mobile app and prepare it for the final demonstration. We also will start preparing for our peer evaluation day coming up so we can get a good practice in. Finally, we plan on tweaking our poster and video to improve it. Thank you for the continued support. As always, Go Gators!

Week #11: Product Inspection Day (PID)

PID

Team Loyalty has their product inspection day (PID) on March 31st, 2026. The event was a great success and the team received a lot of great feedback from the judges. We want to say thank you to all of the judges and people who made the event possible!

The team made a presentation that went through our projects problem and solution, then we transitioned to an app demo so the judges could see what our app does. We focused on the main parts when presenting and by the end of it we allowed the judges to try a live version of our app on an actual phone. The judges really enjoyed the physical phone to try our app. Below is an example of the AI chatbot feature we presented to the judges.

Feedback

The team received great feedback from all of the judges and we greatly appreciate it. The main points of feedback included adding more product variety to our database, structure our presentation of focus on the AI chatbot, and to add user study testing metrics to our other testing metrics.

Next Steps

The team’s next steps are going to be to focus on addressing the feedback we received by adding products like glasses and bags, etc., restructuring our presentation slides, and asking Bealls Inc. for permission to do user studies. Additionally, we plan on working on our project video and board. Thank you for the continued support! Go Gators!

Week #10: Return from Spring Break

Current Progress

The team has returned from spring break! We spent time resting and spending time with our loved ones so we could recharge and be prepared to give it our all for the last stretch of this semester. As we head to April, we are on track and excited to keep refining and testing our mobile app. The AI chatbot is not recommending products and we will show that progress soon. The searching of products is working and shown below. We have added a filter for prices and other important choices and we have also cleaned up the UI for the product so the user easily understands how to add an item to bag. The checkout is currently in progress and almost complete. A video of our app will come soon but everything is coming along well and the team is excited to show you all.

Next Steps

As the team heads into next week, which is the start of April, we plan on focusing on Product Inspection Day (PID) so we have a great presentation ready for our judges. We can’t wait for the important and useful feedback we will be receiving from the judges. After PID, we plan on taking the feedback and applying them and continuing our apps production.

Thank you for your continued support of our team and project! GO GATORS!

Week #9: Search Functionality

Current Progress

Our database is fully functional for our products and we are full steam ahead on our other features. One of the main components that a customer needs for a mobile app is the feature to be able to search up products using key words. The current version of our search does this but still needs tweaking for better outputs. Now that there is a foundation of product searching, we are able to move along with purchasing and how it affects our database. The team is excited to see all of it come together and tie in our AI chatbot to make the experience even better. Below are example searches of products and how they are displayed. Keep in mind, this is NOT final and we are still hard at work to finish details and use a user lens to enhance the UI.

Next Steps

For our next steps, the team is about to have our spring break but plan on working on the app during it. We will take time to relax but also make sure we are on pace. The next app steps include fine tuning the product search flow, the customer purchasing, and the AI chatbot product recommendations. Thank you for the continued support, Go Gators!

Week #8: Working with Database

Current Work

Our team is hard at work on the project and are very excited for the progress we are making. The team wanted to highlight the current progress that we are focused on. The project lead is working on our testing plans for each main component in our mobile app and making sure we have well documented test with metrics. The database team is working on continuous population of the database and the rewards program. The UI team is continuing to work on search and checkout functionality. The AI team is working on product recommendations from the AI chatbot. Now that the team has a decent amount of products in the database, we are able to move forward with development of other areas. This is an exciting milestone! Below is an example of our products database that we are working with.

Next Steps

The team cannot wait to have a full video demo prepared with the functionalities working and we thank you for your patience. This experience has been going well so far and we appreciate the support. We plan to continue to work hard but will also take some time to relax during break. More about that when the break is here. As always, go gators!

Week #7: QRB 2

Presentation

For QRB2 Team Loyalty presented their progress on the mobile app for Bealls Inc. and provided a demo in the presentation. We gave the panel an update on our upcoming plans for the rest of the semester for the project. The video we presented showed all of the functionality we currently have and we showed off a preliminary version of our AI chatbot Bella. It is in its very early stages but we are making great progress on it. We also discussed a general overview on how we plan on testing our mobile application. Overall we received great feedback on our project and our presentation as well.

Feedback

We appreciate all of the great feedback we received during QRB 2 and the team is instantly taking it in and acting upon it. The main points of feedback we received were to have a more clear and detailed testing plan for our whole app and we should present it more clearly on the slides. We are planning to address these points as soon as possible to ensure our plan is detailed so we can also easily translate it to a slide that is to the point. To the panel, thank you for the time spent giving us feedback.

Next Steps

Our next steps include staying on our timeline and finishing with the backend connection throughout March for full functionality. As for our AI chatbot, it is going to focus the product recommendations for this month. We also plan to address the comments from QRB2 and ensure our testing plan is documented in detailed. Thank you all for the support. Go Gators!

Week #6: Database Population

Web Scraping

For this week, the team has been focusing on continuous population of our database with products. It is important for us to get any many products as possible because it will help with reaching the next step of our mobile app. We need this data to test our AI chatbot, search feature, and overall mobile app experience when shopping. Part of the team has been allocated to developing a web scraper to pull product images from the links Bealls Inc. gave us. Along with the product links, they were kind enough to give us more useful product information for each item that we could use in our database. The team that has been web scrapping has worked on making a new .csv file with all the important information and the image links themselves for easy implementation in our mobile app. Below is part of the work of the scraping team has been able to do so far and plans on getting thousands of products.

AI Chatbot

The progress on our chatbot includes working on static prompting, order history functionality, and product recommendations are in progress. The chatbot is able to give a user’s order history when asked. Further research is being done to tackle the product recommendations.

Next Steps

Our next steps include integrating our database with all of the parts of our mobile app. This will for huge steps to be made in all of the mobile app parts. We can’t wait to show you all! Go Gators!
