IPPD Retrospective | 4/25

Welcome to the FINAL blog post from team Electric Eye! This Tuesday, the IPPD program held the Final Design Review, and 8-hour long event that not only showcased each team’s projects from this year, but was a celebration of the effort and hard work we all gave to creating our products. This was an amazing moment that was both a relief for us as students, signifying the end of a long journey through IPPD and as students at the University of Florida, and a goodbye to a project and program that has defined our final year. The team has grown together as professionals through this year, and we want to thank our sponsor, FPL, and our liaison, Natasha, for facilitating this growth for us through the year. FPL has been awesome to work with and we as a team are grateful for all those that helped create this opportunity. We also are thankful to the IPPD program for creating an experience that will have a life-long impact on each member of our team. IPPD offers to each student a unique opportunity to learn how to be productive members of an engineering team. The experience allows us to encounter some of the typical problems that comes with working in industry, something a Senior Design class could not emulate. Building a product with actual use case and for a specific customer provides new challenges that are usually reserved for internships or industry jobs. To any prospective student that may be reading this who is unsure if IPPD is the right fit for them, know that your time and effort here will pay off in the growth you will gain! No two classes you could take in your final year will prepare for your future as a professional engineer quite like IPPD will, trust us.
